A Guide on Fixing Errors related to Corrupt RAR archives

Well a lot of newbies ask and complain about my uploads giving wrong password or corrupt archive errors so i am writing this tutorial on how to fix it so here it goes....here are the reasons for this

How to extract files

First of all i always use winrar even for extarcting 7z archives so always use that...

When you download a part archive having parts like part1.rar part2.rar part3.rar just place all of the part files in one folder and double click the first part of the archive,the first part will be named part00.rar or part01.rar like the following example

After double click winrar will open an interface like this , all my upload have password in comments like you see on the right...copy the password by selecting the password i.e. kissme1 and right clicking your mouse and selecting "Copy"

just click extract file button like you see below and paste the copies password by pressing Ctrl + V or right clicking your mouse and selecting "Paste"

 

Just remember all the archives should be in one place like in the first picture or winrar will ask for archives...if you get an error read below 

Error Reason 1 & Solution:

Sometimes winrar gives an error saying that next volume is required like this 

When looking carefully you can see that part 3 is not in the same folder as the other 2 parts...like this

so you can either place part 3 in the same folder and click ok button or you can browse and point out the location of part 3 that will solve the problem...

also sometimes download managers add _ or (1) to the file name if you download them again so the file named would be dx204.part3_1.rar or dx204.part3(1).rar in this example ...simply rename it to dx204.part3.rar and extract it will solve the problem

Error Reason 2 & Solution:

Sometimes you get errors like this

and it may also write Wrong Password at the end of the file, this doesnt mean the upload is corrupt, the problem is part01 as in the error it is showing that it is corrupt...mostly this happens when downloading so the best bet will be to download part01 again and then extract again...keep in mind that sometimes several parts might get corrupt when downloading and all there numbers will show up in the winrar error message so just download them again and that will solve the problem.

Remember winrar shows exact error messages much better so try to use it in case of any errors

How to recover corrupt archives which have recovery record

Remember this is only possible if the poster says he has included repair record in the rar archives(i dont do that cause that increases my upload size)

If u r extracting files from a part archive first find out which part reports the CRC error in WinRAR(read the above article) then open that part RAR file in WinRAR or if it s just a single file and winrar says it has crc error open that one
in WinRAR.... Now click repair archive

Then it ll ask where to put the RAR archive..... Give some folder location of your choice.... you can give the same folder the archive is in as winrar adds a word rebuilt along with the original file name (so no need to worry about the original file getting overwritten)...

Then click OK

t ll then start repairing that archive if it has enough Recovery Record in it n generate the new repaired archive.... Make sure that you save the original archive with a different name after the repair is done and rename this new rebuilt file with that name and try the extraction process again that should fix the error
